“… And the Himmler on this one is there’s no dessert (he’s the one who couldn’t imagine all the people living in peace)”

Gord was being polite:

“Heinrich Luitpold Himmler (October 7, 1900 – May 23, 1945) was the commander of the German Schutzstaffel (SS) and one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany. As Reichsführer-SS he controlled the SS and the Gestapo. Himmler became a leading organizer of the Holocaust. As founder and officer-in-charge of the Nazi concentration camps and the Einsatzgruppen death squads, Himmler held final command responsibility for implementing the industrial-scale extermination of between 6 and 12 million people. This was aimed particularly at Jews, but also against those of many other nationalities, races and conditions Nazi ideology considered to be suitable for killing, or Sonderbehandlung ("special treatment") as gas chamber murder was euphemistically known within the SS”

And on that happy note!

“...Go to Cleveland, be an indie smash”

When Drew Carey and the Indians are what ya got going for ya… trouble.

“Cleveland is the county seat of Cuyahoga County, the most populous county in the U.S. state of Ohio. The municipality is located in northeastern Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie, approximately 60 miles (100 km) west of the Pennsylvania border. It was founded in 1796 near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, and became a manufacturing center owing to its location at the head of numerous canals and railroad lines. With the decline of heavy manufacturing, Cleveland's businesses have diversified into the service economy, including the financial services, insurance, and healthcare sectors.”

"...and that song is Don't Forget"

Hipbaser "thedaver39" discovered that: "the song The Hip are referencing is Martha Wainwright's "Don't Forget". It is beautifully written, and seems to follow some of the ideas that the track and album as a whole point towards. I found the lyrics on-line at the following site. The song is off of her latest self-titled album that was a Canada-only release.

"...til all the chameleons turn black"

Chameleons, when threatened or afraid, turn black.
