Rob: "This one started in Craig's home studio as a song for someone else. Craig
asked me over when I was in Vancouver to put something down and I just reacted
with a simple repeating phrase which Craig proceeded to chop up, flip backwards,
overlap...all in a futile effort to make me sound good - actually it wasn't
futile - it sounds pretty good! My favorite moment on the album is Craig's solo
at the end of this. He didn't play a lot of guitar on this album but after
hearing him rip this one off I was prepared to start over and have him do all
the guitar. He took about 8 cracks at this, all of which were great, but in the
end I had to say 'I'm not sure what you're after but you need to listen to the
first one' that is what's on the track." Craig: "This was our first collaboration. Rob and I were fooling around with a looping pedal in my studio and Rob came up with the lead riff. We kept recording with the pedal and a drum loop and after he left I added and subtracted and edited and voila. Our friend Dave Foley suggested the title as the song was originally intended for his very talented missus Crissy Guerrero (El Vez, White Trash Wins Lotto etc). When it came to figuring out which songs would be on the record this one was almost forgotten." |
